Is your business purpose-driven? Does it strive for higher meaning than just profits and dividends?

This seems like a difficult question for many business leaders. For those who are older, and that’s most of the corporate leadership in the world, they never needed to consider their “purpose”. Social considerations were never factored into their profitability metrics.

That’s changing. More and more companies are moving with purpose.

Amazon is an example of this type of change. The company has vowed to be carbon-neutral by 2040. While 19 years might seem like a long time, it’s a huge global enterprise, and it’s moving faster than most countries to that goal.

This is important for Amazon, not just as a corporate citizen, but for their marketing and advertising. Every day, they run commercials about how they’re making these changes.

Purpose is not just about “feel good” ideas that go at the back of the business plan any longer. Most of the newest businesses that are rising in the world have started with purpose woven into their fabric.
